Ideas and Promising Practices to Build Confidence in COVID-19 Vaccines (Completed May 2021)
Throughout the COVID-19 global pandemic, VA continued to meet or exceed COVID-19 vaccination rates in most markets across the United States. As vaccine supply issues were resolved, we had to prepare as a health care system to build vaccine confidence for those still hesitant or misinformed about receiving a COVID-19 vaccine. Vaccine hesitancy is a serious and complex issue that increases the risk of contracting or transmitting COVID-19, and could lead to a prolonged and more dangerous pandemic.
We announced an open call for VA employees to submit their ideas or Promising Practices for how we as a health care system can build confidence in COVID-19 vaccines. We understand our employees are uniquely positioned to help us confront this challenge and serve Veterans and surrounding communities. Selected ideas and promising practices were highlighted during COVID-19 Vaccine Coordinator Calls and replicated more broadly across the enterprise.
