REAL System, y-Series

In November 2021, SoldierStrong donated Penumbra, Inc.'s REAL y-series, virtual reality (VR) devices that deliver immersive therapeutics designed to engage Veterans during their rehabilitation journey, supporting areas such as functional skills and cognition. As of October 2024, 18 VA medical facilities have received a donation of the REAL System, y-Series from SoldierStrong.

Overview

Problem

The conventional rehabilitation process is challenging and often lengthy and repetitive which adversely impacts a Veteran’s motivation. VR has emerged as a therapeutic tool to help transform the process, helping Veterans feel more engaged and yielding positive rehabilitation outcomes.

Solution

The VHA XR Network collaborated with SoldierStrong to provide VR devices to medical facilities that expressed interest in using VR to augment rehabilitation therapy. Results
